How often do I need a Wheel Alignment?

Picture yourself driving down the world’s most beautiful road. Now think about driving down this same road but your wheels, this time, are pointed in the wrong direction. It isn’t as much fun at that point is it?

What Is A Wheel Alignment For?

I am sure you have pushed a shopping cart or stroller at some point where the wheels appear to be working against one another.

Making it roll along takes lots more effort. Unfortunately, although with a shopping cart you can feel their wheels fighting you, on your car you aren’t always aware that this is occurring. Fortunately, there are signs of it if you know what you should be looking for.

Vehicle alignment is a very complicated subject that covers a wide variety of parts and terms. Wheels that are out of alignment means that the tires aren’t pointing in the proper direction. It affects the durability, safety, suspension and steering of your tires as well as all of the parts that control them.

How does a car lose its  alignment?

Some of the more common ways of knocking your alignment out are bumping into a concrete parking stall, hitting the curb and pot holes. However, wear and tear are the most common reason. As cars grow older, ball and socket joints get looser, and rubber components begin to lose their elasticity or start to crack. They begin to give a bit more, and progressively get worse over time.

If I don’t get the wheels on my car aligned what will happen?

Worn Tire Tread

If your tires are not aligned properly, they will wear down much more quickly and cost you more money over the lifetime of your car. Your fuel consumption will also increase since the tires aren’t rolling as smoothly as they should be. Also, a slight dragging effect will develop that causes your car’s engine to have to work harder. Another thing is your car won’t be able to handle as it has been designed to. It could get to the point that you will have a hard time maintaining control of your vehicle.

How frequently should my alignment be checked? We recommend that you get an Alignment Check performed along with every other oil change you do. Over 10,000 kilometers a lot can happen. You drive down gravel roads, through potholes, or even worse, your wheels knock the curb as you are making turns. These things can all impact how your tires sit, and their alignment can be thrown off instantly.

The longer you put off getting your wheels aligned, the more damage may take place. If you haven’t had an alignment in awhile, it time to get a checkup.

Testimonials

“I went to Car Craft a few years ago BECAUSE I was looking for a car shop that had integrity and offered only services that were needed as cost has always been a factor since I was female and taken advantage of previously by unscrupulous service shops.”

Lavana

I own a Ford 2004 F350 Diesel and have had terrible experiences with other shops.  After my first experience with Tony and Car Craft, I know I’ve found the right shop.  I get better mileage now which relates to less wear on my vehicle thanks to Car Craft.

Wayne Donecz

Norm at the front desk provides unreal service each and every time. Owner Tony is very professional and friendly. Car Craft is definitely doing their best to become the neighbourhood garage. Great staff, and great work.

Shirley Gordon

I got a recommendation from the local Napa parts dealer for Car Craft to help me with my check engine light coming on while I was visiting my parents in Kelowna from Puyallup, Washington. I was leaving to go home the next morning over the Coquihalla Pass Highway. It was after 3 pm when I pulled in. They took great care of me and had the problem diagnosed and the light turned off and I was on my way just after 4 pm. Fantastic people with a great attitude to help you.Hats off to these folks it’s not about the money to them it’s all about taking care of you.

Norm has been very professional.

Bob & Lynn Houle

Fast, friendly service. I did not feel bamboozled by these guys – they explained what I needed to have done and were great about telling me the work that was not necessary. I really appreciated that. I think women can rest assured that they are not getting ripped off when the bring their cars in on their own. That is a real concern for a lot of us.

Kate

I found the staff to be friendly, professional and extremely competent. I would have no hesitation to recommend them to others. I will be using their services again in the future.

Rob, Norm, Tony and their crew are as professional and trustworthy as I have seen in any profession. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to look after my vehicles. Both my wife and I take our personal and work vehicles to CarCraft. We are very grateful for their outstanding service.
